    Yes, the NITs can be considered as a viable alternative to the IITs. NITs are equally regarded and offer excellent education in Engineering. They have a good reputation for quality education, experienced faculty members, excellent facilities, strong industry connections, high placement rates, and popular branches such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and more.     The short answer is no. When it comes to the quality of education provided IITs are above of the NITs. Both are good in providing education and producing good engineers, but at the same the IIT colleges have an edge because of their high standard of the studies. Most IIT pass out go abroad at higher salaries starting from 2-3 Lacs per month or more packages through the campus placements.
