Can someone get into IIT with less than 75% in board exams?

If boards percent is less than 75%, can someone with good percentile in JEE Mains still apply for JEE Advanced and hence be part of advanced counselling and get subsequently into IIT?

    Hello SSD, this question keeps cropping up again and again in different forums and even in the courts of law. However at least till now all the challenges to this rule of 75% in board has with held and continuous to rule the roost. This rule is in vogue for many years now and it was relaxed only during the covid times when normal schooling was disrupted due to the pandemic. There are many cases when students have scored quite handsomely in JEE Mains but they have failed to secure 75% marks in there 12 board and as a result they were unable to compete in JEE Advanced examination.
