Can't I get admission without writing JEE exam? I am going to write 12th boards in March 2019.

Yes, you can get admission in various private colleges. But, for getting a reputed college of the nation you should appear in JEE Mains exam, after that you will be eligible to get admission in various NIT and IIT.

No, for admission in a premier institute it is necessary that you qualify JEE Mains and get a good score in JEE advance for IIT. For NITs and IIITs, a good score in JEE Mains matter. Almost every college in India takes admission solely based on JEE Mains.
