Sure you can opt for the self study mode and prepare on your self but then understanding the competitiveness that is there, you should be well aware where do you stand in this competition in advance as this will help you to cope and produce better results, this can happen by meeting fell

However, even then it would be better if you allocate some regular time for discussions with fellow students, teachers etc and also request someone to take a question session with you so that you can judge your level of learnings from time to time.
