CAT is an entrance exam for MBA, as MBA is a postgraduate course so it's not possible for student of any stream eligible for CAT just after class 12th one has to get their undergraduate degree first. And, yes students of Science can give CAT but only after completing their undergraduate degree.

No, you have to complete your graduation first. After that, you can give CAT exam. CAT is for MBA, which is a Master's programme and to do Masters, it is necessary to complete Bachelor's degree.

No, either you should be a graduate or you should be in your final year of graduation to be eligible to appear for MBA entrance exams.

If you don't need any extra guidance, then no need to join any coaching class. Else, joining a class would be better. Ideally, CAT preparation can take 4-6 months depending upon your aptitude level and time given.
