Can you help me to decide wether to take admission in private college or drop a year for IIT .

If you really want any particular college then study for it and take a drop but if you think you cannot make it through studying then don't waste time, join a good college.

Frankly, I would request you not to drop a year for IIT. IIT is a wonderful institution, agreed. But be that as it may, dropping a year, under any circumstances, is not worth it. The JEE Advanced exam is not going to become any less competitive, and chances of getting in aren't going to be much better. Ask yourself these questions, and answer them honestly, because they are crucial: 1. How strong is your resolve? If you do decide to drop a year, will you diligently be able to study for the exam everyday, for one whole year? 2. What guarantee is there that you will get in, even if you do drop a year? How will it affect your mindset and your career if you are unable to get in? I have had previous experience of instances when some of my friends dropped a year to re-attempt, but failed to get in. With the job market being as competitive as it is today, dropping a year will be a massive negative point on your resume when you pass out. In addition, it can be very demoralizing to drop a year, and still not get into an IIT, which is what happened with quite a lot of my friends. There are plenty of good private institutions that offer excellent courses. I suggest that you look into these colleges and then take your decisions. It is known that IIT is a world class institution, but believe me, not being able to get in isn't the end of the world. Nowhere close. So I suggest that you chin up, and look for a good private institution that will aid your career on the whole a lot more.
