IIT means Indian Institute of Technology and NIT means National institute of technology.
Students can get admission in by JEE Mains and JEE Advance exams.
To get admission in IIT or NIT, students first have to quantify JEE Mains according to cut off marks.

Marks are dependent on that particular year, paper and cut off. But, according to me in JEE Mains 2017, cut off marks may increase or decrease. If you want to take admission in NIT, you will have to score nearly 200 or more for B.Tech.
