Can you provide some details about self-supporting courses in engineering?

Hi,
SS means self-supporting. You can find two courses of the same name but one suffixed with SS. The differences between them are cut off and fees.
The cut off will be lower for SS when compared to general course may be less than 0.5 marks. But the fee structure will be almost 3 times higher than
