Suraj Singh Memorial College, Ranchi (A constituent unit of Ranchi University, Ranchi) was humbly started in the year 1972 by a few philanthropic and dedicated people of Ranchi. The college was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Sri Kedar Pandey, with initial Intermediate Arts and Science teaching.
