Hello,
I would say don't get bound with the city and look for options beyond Kolkata. CSE is a highly dynamic programme, resource intensive and difficult to run for the curators. You never know when some technology gets obsolete! The curators need to be equally dynamic as the industry is. It needs unflinching focus to run the programme according to industry. Very few universities have been able to recognize this dynamism and perfect the curriculum and its delivery for producing the well rounded professionals. It is just a matter of public opinion that sometimes condemns a university while over-hyping another. Of course, few other factors, such as the university intake of good candidates and the output of taught, trained, and efficient candidates who get successful placements during the course of the past couple of years, matter, of course, but lets get to that a while later. In regards to the stream concentric study of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at Lovely Professional University, it is undoubtedly a very good idea. Over the past couple of years, the department has seen a rise in the number of students taking admission in the stream. Without mentioning unrealistic figures, I am going to say that the students graduating from the CSE branch at LPU get placed more often than any other department from the same university. Not everyone gets placements in a core company, but they will get placed in companies functioning in various other fields. As a software engineer I would CSE is the best branch as it holds many good opportunities. As LPU alumni, I would recommend LPU for CSE, LPU flagship CSE course. Engineering Programs at LPU are in the same league as BITS Pilani & many of IITs. As per the world ranking 2022 LPU has been ranked 10th amongst top universities of India in engineering subject. The CSE course of LPU has been ranked 9th in computer Science, amongst top universities of India.
