To pursue marine engineering :
** One must complete the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII.
** The candidate has to meet detailed physical fitness and medical standards to qualify for admission.
There are numerous institutions established in various states of India. Few main institutes are :
Marine Engineering Research Institute in West Bengal,
