Can you tell me whether the cutoff mentioned is category wise or CRL rank based in JEE Mains JOSSA and CSAB.

In JoSAA and CSAB, the cutoff is given category-wise, not just by CRL (Common Rank List).

This means:

  • If you are from EWS, OBC, SC, or ST, your admission depends on your category rank, not your CRL.

  • Only students from the General category are judged by CRL.

For JOSAA, the opening and closing ranks for General/Open seats represent the CRL, while for other reserved categories (EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD), the ranks represent their respective category ranks.
