There are a number of technical specialties within the realm of Civil Engineering, these include:
-Structural engineering – creating the structural elements of design, whether for bridges, or skyscrapers. Probably the oldest single specialty in civil engineering, going all the way back to Pharaoh's pyramids.
-Geotechnical engineering – concerned with the rock and soil which supports the structures that other civil engineers design.

9 years agoDon't always rush for government jobs. That is not all for engineers. Private companies offer better prospects. Civil engineers can acquire special skills in project management, structural design through expertise to use StaadPro or like. They may also undertake training in construction management and quality controls. Lot of area open. Infrastructural projects are the best bet for a blooming career. -
After completion of Civil Engg. there are certain career options available to the students He can become transport Engg, Water Resource Engineer, Structural Engineer, Environmental engineers etc. After B tec. u can also do M Tech and research and opt for teaching profession. There are certain colleges/institutes providing quality education and placements to the students. Some of the best colleges providing quality education and placements to the students are:-
