is a BA(honours) in english eligible for civil services? if yes what are the subject one can choose for optionals in mains? please reply

Yes, you are elegible for civils and there is no restriction to choose subject in main you may choose any of the subject which doesnt related to your graduation.

For appearing in the prelims of the civil services exam you don't need a specific subject now. But yes English is there in the Mains and so if you qualify in prelims, you can choose English as one of your subjects.
