Could someone tell me what companies employ animators and what sort of work can be expected?

Animation offers excellent jobs provided you are rightly educated and develop right skills. Industry wise it is already a 1.5 Billion Dollar industry in India according to NASSCOM reports and also it more than 80 Billion Dollar industry globally. Thus it is a very big industry. Industry includes entertainment movie/TV serials productions, internet animation content development, AD (TV/Internet/Other) development, Product /Architecture design, Simulation, Game design etc. In india there are already many top 10 global firms. Eg : Technicolour, Dreamworks, Digital Juice in Bangalore, Rythm and Hues in Hyderbad, Pixar etc. There are now many indian companies like BIG Animation Studio in Mumbai from our own Reliance, Manipal Studio in Bangalore etc. Lots of holly wood and bolly wood productions are happening in India, like eg : recent Dilli Chalo. Thus you can make a very bright future in this area. But challege is getting in to the best college so that you can get the right training. Many institutes offer Animation courses. Hi Samrath, In the current scenario when Indian industry is coming up very strongly the scope of animation is really good however, this industry is not getting that place which it deserves to be. Hi, animation industry is one of the fastest emerging fields in India in the current scenario. After taking a formal training one can easily become an able animator. Good drawing and sketching skills will prove to be an added advantage in this field. These days professionals all over the world are using Flash software and those good at drawing must try hands with this software. An individual should have love for drawing and creating characters with strong imagination and visualization skills. He/she should be technically skilled and competent and able to work alone on a project for long hours with risk-taking ability and patience. With giants like Warner Brothers, Fun Bag Animation, ILM and Disney planning to set up shop in India to produce animation films and movies, animation is set to become one of the fastest growing IT segments in the country.
