Current system of Business education is too much cluttered.
Most of the Program are more or less similar. leaving top institutes (IIMs, ISBs etc) all are at same level. Do you think there is need of creativity and innovation in the Business education? What does Indusrty and society expects from a management graduate?

MBA has now a days has became the Money Game for the Colleges. Every here and there u will see MBA colleges. As the hype of MBA is going this white colored business is grooming. Education sector became the Education Industry now. From this industry all kind of products are coming out. Some of them of High quality and get absorbed within the Industry but most of them have just done the MBA as a part of their PG.

The clutter has been created because of the mentality of the educationists to stuff the students' minds with necessary and unnecessary data.It is felt that if even unnecessary data is fed, much of the brain-space shall be vacant for any future data which may be useful.A fresh homework on part of our policy makers is required. But much of their time is being eaten up by bureaucratic norms.
Many of the faculty teaching at the B-schools are more or less inclined towards imparting theoretical education--perhaps because of their own upbringing. This has to change, and it should be like training the students to dirty their hands in the field ra...more -
Education is a Responsibility An Institute Charges for this or takes funding from Govt. both must understand this responsibility .

I would again like to re-iterate and draw the focus on role of Institutions themselves and not of AICTE. As we see all those who have commented are of the opinion that AICTE has all the drawbacks and constraints that a typical government body has. So even if AICTE has a very neatly laid out policy the Institutions will find and are already finding looplholes and carry out the sub-standard work. So keeping all this in mind we should discuss what should Institutes or other non-govt or private bodies or forum like Shiksha can do regarding this.

Thanks all of you for the wonderful inputs. I agree that all the premier colleges do have very excellent pedagogy and case studies. however, the issue that I want to highlight is what happens in tier-II and lower institutes. They don't have the necessary infrastructure and facilities and charge exhorbiant fees. For Students, MBA is very a lucrative option and they are willing to pay the fees. However, apart from giving a Degree or PG Diploma these Institutes don't really add any value to the students. This is evident from the quality of the students that come out.

Thank you @BMTY for inviting comment but my reaction would be rather sharp and lengthy, so beware of it. Being in different professions, entrepreneur and now an academician, I had opportunity to have a close look on recognition agencies as well as the technical and business education. The requirement of having hundreds of universities and thousands of colleges to cater for burgeoning population of India has bred huge corruption in the education system and 80% of system is not capable of producing business managers, decision makers and leaders. In my opinion, LLB and MBA are two degrees where 50% studies should be through the case studi...more

A very sharp topic for discussion. I don't know how it remained hidden from our experts. Well, I'd very much agree to what you said that Current system of Business education is too much cluttered. Except the premier B-Schools, most of them are the mere profit making bodies which don'e have to do anything about the scopes, value, quality like parameters of those reputed degrees. There is indeed a need of educational reforms and change in the methods. The industries look out for those who have high feasibility in the corporate world and who have indepth knowledge of practicality of the management components.
