    Hi Wani,
    How are you?
Well, Graduate Aptitude Test of Engineering is somehow necessary for core branches like mechanical, civil, electrical for PSUs or to pursue M.Tech from a good college.
You can give 2 attempts of it after doing your Bachelor's degree. Then, on the basis of SSC HSC UG grades and GATE score, you will get a rank. If you get a good rank under 500, you will get a call from PSUs or else you can go for M.Tech.
    Thank you and keep asking!

BE and B.Tech are considered equivalent. The difference lies in whether CPGA or percentage is awarded and considered for appearance in GATE examination. Hence conversion to equivalent terms as indicated in the GATE brochure may be necessary.
