Difference in Studying B.Tech after giving PET and after having diploma after 10th class?

Hi, I want to know, what is difference in doing B.Tech directly and by doing it after 10th using Diploma? Also I want to become Software Engineer without studying 12th, so will I get job still? And is that right that we can get admission from 2nd year after having diploma in polytech com. engi.?
