    Lateral entry into the B.Tech course usually permits students who complete their diplomas in the field of engineering or any related stream to join directly to the second year of B.Tech. However, admission criteria may differ from university to college; it is always concentrated on the performance in the Diploma course rather than 12th-grade marks.
