Do colleges and university accept gap?

I have completed my +2 in 2014.Due to some reasons,I had a gap of one year.Now I want to do graduation.

One of my friend just took admission in Lovely professional university which is india's largest university, in there prospectus there was gap certificate, he just filled that only, and got admission and also he clear there entrance test and got financial aid assistance too.
