Yes, CLAT (in this case) is necessary. It is also imperative to be a top scorer since it is the most sought after NLU. Do self-study or join a coaching class.

Yes,you have to attempt CLAT and be among the top 57 students to get into NLSIU. Your preparations should be based on the pattern of exam and type of questions asked. For more details refer to official website of CLAT.
