Do I need experience or Bachelors degree in the same field for MBA in hotel and hospitality management?
I have done my Bachelors in physics honors from correspondence. I want to join hotel industry. Some colleges say that if you are planning for MBA in hotel management then it would be better if you do your bachelors first in the same.

Dear Subhajit, Since you have completed your Bachelor's degree, it is of no use wasting time in re-doing the same degree. As you have mentioned, that some colleges say that you need to have a Bachelor's degree in hotel management, so let them say. I am sure you will find some institutions offering Diploma in hotel management. Generally, Diplomas are of short duration. Dear Subhajit, Not really needed to have completed a Bachelors degree to acquire an MBA in Hospitality Management. But yes experience is very important. Your experience in the field gives you the option to study more based on what you have experienced. You can show your future institution the work experience and get enrolled for a Masters Degree. For people, I have met in the industry don't have a Bachelor's degree but have acquired a master's degree based on their experience. So yes if not a Bachelor's degree, the experience can definitely fetch you a Masters degree.

Okay, there is a huge difference between doing MBA in hotel management and a Bachelor's in hotel management. In Bachelor's, you learn so much in deep about the subject matter, whereas in MBA you mainly only study about the business aspect of it. If you are really passionate about working in a hotel, then I would suggest you do your Bachelor's first. You can still work in a hotel after your MBA without the Bachelors aswell. But you would have to learn all about the subject through on the job training. Another option for you would be to do a Diploma. and then go for the MBA.
