Do I need to give justification of backlogs in SOP for student visa of New Zealand?

I had 11 backlogs in B.Sc IT degree and I am planning for MBM.

Hi, It is good if you are honest and transparent, you should also mention how you studied harder and overcame challenges. Write in a positive way.
