Do I need to have a background in computer science in order to pursue a Masters in machine learning abroad?

No. The shorter GRE format (1 hour 58 minutes) has no scheduled breaks. Leaving the room for any reason will not stop your exam timer. However, you can have water or use washroom but timer will not stop.
