    Yes, almost all of the top PhD academic institutions ask you to present a well-defined research proposal as a part of the PhD admission process that includes an entrance exam, an interview, and a research proposal presentation. A solid PhD proposal can actually help you make it to the institute, as it gives an impression of your dedication and interest in the chosen research field, along with the level of mind preparedness.
