Do I need to start preparing for the NET exam at the graduation level?
I am in the 1st year of BA in english.

No, not now. You have a lot of time, after doing Master's degree, you are eligible for the NET exam. So, you have a good amount of time left. But for now, just focus on BA (Hons) English.
