If you were declared a failure in the 12th AHSEC board exams, you will have to reapply for the exam next year. Admission is determined by the college. You can take admission to study 12th grade again, or you can apply for the 12th AHSEC board exams separately. Your college name will appear on your marksheet as NIP instead of the college's (school's) name. You will also be treated as a "private candidate" in the next round of exams. Hence, if you do not need to take admission, you can simply appear in the exam next year.

If you fail in one subject out of 6 subjects, you won't be considered fail in the board exams. But you won't be considered completely pass either and won't be eligible to proceed for further admissions. To completely pass the class, you have to reappear for the exam of the subject you failed in.
