In general, Somaiya Vidyavihar performs better than DPGU with respect to placements for MBA students. Somaiya has more seniority, better access to industry contacts, and is more consistently recruiting from higher tier firms. Also, being located in Mumbai gives all the students access to higher opportunities for corporate exposure and internships. Hi.
DPGU describes itself as “Recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC)” on its official website.
The “Mandatory Disclosure” page of DPGU mentions that the university is recognised under Section 2 (f) (and 12 (B) of the UGC Act.
On external listings summarizing SPR, the institute is described as “UGC-approved private university”.
So at the university level, DPGU appears to have UGC recognition — that generally means the university (and its constituent schools, like SPR) are officially “recognized” under UGC.

On SPR / DYP‑IPSR's own profile page, they state that “All the courses are recognised by PCI”.
There is an official “Decision Letter” from PCI listing SPR (as “Dr D Y Patil … Pimpri Pune, PCI‑558”) as an institute approved for pharmacy courses.
