There is no state ranking; instead, approximately 50% of seats at each NIT are reserved for students from the home state. The home state quota is for those students who have passed their 12th grade in the state in which NIT is situated. The JEE only publishes your composite rank list (CRL) and category rank. Based on this, each NIT publishes their closing ranks in different rounds for their home state and other candidates. For example, while the closing rank for the general category for another state applicant may be 34000, it will be different for home state candidates in the same category. -
Whether the All India Rank (AIR) or the State Rank is used for JEE Mains counseling for the home state quota depends on the state and the specific college or university you are applying to.
