It all depends upon the performance of the students during the academic years.
Some companies preferred candidates with work experience because the job profile is such that the candidate might have work in the related job profile before or has basic understanding of the fundamentals.
Some preferred freshers as companies want fresh candidates who are ready to learn through the existing company's culture.
At the end, it depends upon your knowledge of the required field and communication skills (for presentations, GDPI, interviews ). These are the most important aspect of any B-school academic years and placements.

Hi, highest package last to last year was offered to a fresher. People with work experience do have an edge over the freshers, but it all depends on what kind of projects you take or efforts you go through while pursuing MBA , in the end.
