It is a misnomer or wrong perception that Engineering graduate have better chances to get admission in IIMs. Engineering graduates by virtue of thier studies have superior numerical ability but they also in general have handicap in communication skills. In order to crack CAT you require good numerical ability, data interpretation ability and Communication skills. Any graduate with above mentioned skills and leadership traits can crack CAT and get admission in IIMs.

Secondly, your IIM interview, which will decide whether you get through or not, because this is where most students are eliminated. Your logical thinking, leadership skills and presence of mind are tested here. Then comes your marks. In India, how much you score will decide whether you can or cannot proceed to the rounds after elimination is done. Unfortunately, m

Yes, you can say that a B.Tech graduate has higher chances because they have very well experience of working in industry and they own management capabilities. As nearly, all IIMs require experienced students they produce quality MBA graduates involved in various sectors where employment is really good. Management sector gives you good source of money. The other graduates like B.Com or other lacking up in management experience due to low work load management.
As per my friends experience, one with BBA and other B.Tech graduate, they both are equal for IIM if they have completed only graduation. But, the experience in working gives more
