Mobile phone use is governed by rules in many nursing schools in order to protect patient privacy, uphold professional boundaries, and reduce distractions. For example, in order to preserve patient confidentiality and uphold professionalism, the Royal College of Nursing recommends that nursing staff follow their employer's mobile phone policy and refrain from using personal devices for work-related purposes. RCN To avoid distractions and protect patient privacy, Bradley University also has a policy that forbids using personal mobile phones in clinical settings, with the exception of using authorized applications.
