12th marks are only required for being eligible to give the entrance tests of the institutes. For BITS, it is aggregate 75 % in physics, chemistry, and maths with 60 % and above in each subject. VIT and BIT both organise entrance exam for admission and other universities take direct admission through 12th score.

Yes, it is much more important to make higher percentage in class 12th. If your percentage will be more then more and more chances will grow for you.

I can provide you information about BITS which is that you need 75% aggregate in PCM to apply for BITSAT. Best wishes!

There is a minimum eligibility criteria for 12th class percentage as per different universities , just check on their websites. You have to give respective entrance tests for a getting admissions. However if you are board topper throughout India BITS take you without any entrance tests.
