A gap year generally does not affect your placement if you have a satisfactory explanation for how you used this time and remained attached with your goals. Recruiters primarily focus on your skills, academic performance, and the values that you are going to add to their company. To minimise any potential negative impact, provide a valid, genuine, and positive reason for taking the gap year to your recruiter, and highlight any growth in your skills through projects or internships during that time.
