Does it effect on our records if we appear for CAT more than once?

I am in the final year of my B.com and i am looking for Institutes which can prepare me for CAT 2014. But i was wondering if i could appear in the 2013 CAT just to look where i stand for the test before having me prepared by any institution for 2014. Will it be good or not to appear twice for CAT?

Yes sometimes it happens when you go for interviews but not always if you clear CAT exams and get any reputated colleges than it never affects a little
