ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) co-ordinates agricultural education and research in the country under the aegis of Ministry of Agriculture (government. Of India). ICAR provide the Accreditation to the Educational Institutes in order to ensure the quality assurance in higher agriculture education. LPU is not only the ICAR Accredited but become the India's first private University to be Granted with ICAR Accreditation. The four programmes B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) with GPAP of 3.72/4; M.Sc. Hi,LPU Becomes the First Private University to be Granted ICAR Accreditation.The eligibility criteria for BSC Hons Agriculture includes 60% in 10+2/Intermediate with English, Physics, Chemistry and Maths/ Biology/ Forestry + LPUNEST or 60% in 10+2/Intermediate 10+2 (Agriculture) + LPUNEST OR 60% in 2 year Diploma(Agriculture) after 10th + LPUNEST
Age Condition :- Minimum 16 Years (i.e. born on or before last date of admission) .
In addition to the regular course work, especially designed practical courses like Hands on training, Practical crop production, Rural and Agriculture Work Experience (RAWE), Nursery raising for horticulture crops, Crop And Seed Identification Laboratory, Soil And Water Sampling And Analysis, Soil Description And Interpretation Discipline Highlights: Agriculture aboratory, Organic And Chemical Fertilizer, Manure Identification And Application Laboratory, Introductory Nematology, Disease Of Horticultural Crops And Their Management, Practical Floriculture And Vegetable Crop Production Laboratory, Bio-Safety Rules And Intellectual Property Rights are offered to promote practical implication of various courses which train students for industry.
Students are exposed to Commercial farms (100 acres) to know-how that create an opportunity for students to engage and tone up their endurance, confidence and management skills. They were also engaged in complete cultivation practice of seasonal crops for 6 months, wherein land preparation till harvesting and marketing of the final products will be done by student to expose farming experience. Profit earned by selling solely shared by students of a group.
Highest numbers of PhDs as faculties are enrolled in School of Agriculture faculties throughout the LPU university. These experienced faculties mostly engaged in consultancy, research and publication to add immense value to the academic life. Sharing life-based experience and suggesting personality development steps time to time.
Placement Insight
Due to ICAR accreditation large numbers of companies are visiting the campus.
More than 44, 46 and 43 renowned firms and industries are on board for on campus and off campus drive in 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively.
Around 90% of the students getting placed every year.
