Does NID has preferred seats for NRI sponsored candidates?

Sir, the National Institute of Design does not have preferred NRI quota seats. Instead, it provides admission in the following categories: 1. General 2. General (EWS) 3. Scheduled Caste (SC) 4. Other Backward Class (OBC-NCL) 5. Scheduled Tribe (ST) 6. Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Apart from that, it provides admission to 15% of seats under the Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category. For this quota, the applicant must be a citizen of a foreign country. These seats are available at the NID Ahmedabad and the NID Madhya Pradesh. According to the criteria, non-resident Indians (NRIs) who have Indian citizenship are not eligible to apply under this quota. If your nephew is also a US citizen, then he can apply for this quota. As an Indian citizen, your nephew can apply under the general quota for B. Des., provided he has passed or is appearing in Class 12 in the academic year 2021-22. You can sponsor his studies in general or in whichever subcategory he is eligible as an Indian citizen.
