Does the role of M.Sc CS graduate and a MCA graduate same?

Hello, Even though the two post-graduation courses are at the same level there are some differences between them. MCA is a 3-year programme whereas M.Sc. computer science is a 2year programme. MCA covers the software and its application related field. M.Sc. computer science covers the both hardware and software field. A person with a strong background in the computational and scientific field is only able to opt for this course. Those who have pursued a graduation in computer science or computer technology alone can opt for M.Sc. computer Science, while MCA can be done by any science graduates. The career opportunities for both these graduates are many. But most MNCs prefer MCA graduates over M.Sc. graduates. This is because the MCA graduates are well aware of the software applications. But for developing new software, M.Sc. graduates are preferred. MCAs are most suitable for the working purposes in various companies. Both M.Sc CS & MCA are equally good courses. M.Sc CS students have a very good theoretical background of Computer Science subjects whereas MCA students have very good exposure on Computer Applications. Indian IT industry's primarily business and major revenue is from Application Development and Support projects because of which MCA graduates have minor edge over M.Sc graduates. However, I will suggest you evaluate and select degrees based on Institute's reputation, brand image and placement record not on whether it is M.Sc CS or MCA.
