Very high entrance scores will always attract eyes, but it isnt always the case. The brighest student might not get high marks in exams. The entrance exam scores only are for establishing the eligibility criteria. The final selection will be based on GD-PI and the past acads record. As for the second part of the question, it might be true but again i have no much idea about it. CAT is considered the tougher exam among the 2, but each exam has its own way of evaluation. If a person scores well and do not perform to the expected level of the institute in the GD/PI he/she is generally not selected. So it depends upon your performance at the D day and your past academic record including extra- curricular activities.
