    The selection of a candidate for MS program is a 2 stage process in abroad:
    Selection process goes something like this there is a list of cutoffs for a threshold values for certain selection criteria for example all the students with GRE above 310 will be cleared or All students at CGPA above 8 out of 10 will be selected, etc. This limit is not very strict and flexible there is also criteria of English proficiency test.
    In this process you will be just on your GPA GRE score letter of recommendation and sop, etc. And is highly flexible. Student with great academic but not so good GRE marks can be selected over a student with perfect GRE s

    If you don't do well in your studies, you can prepare well for your GRE exam to get good GRE score. Relatively high GRE score balances you average school performance and increase your chances to get into good grad school. Also, In addition to your academic record and a good GRE scores, letters of recommendations from your seniors or supervisors from your workplace or educational institute play a huge role in balancing the selection in your favor. These criteria matters a lot for your chances to get into good B-School. Make sure you aim for good GRE score if your CGPA scores are average.

    The exams taken for admissions for MS abroad like GRE/TOFEL/IELTS are only a test for your reasoning and english skills so graduation CGPA is what reflects your potential in academics.
    I can't emphasize enough, the importance of CGPA in graduate level for MS abroad. It might be a factor that can give you an upper hand against all the applicants or let you down.It is one of the crucial factors with others like LORs, SOPs, GRE/TOFEL score, and recommendations. Unless you have good publications or recommendations from very good individuals CGPA is one thing that can't be negotiated.
