I am thankful to @ for initiating this discussion and with Dr Dey on his opinion. The unfortunate thing about our country is that career choices are made as a result of CRAZE rathter the aptitude and interest. Any demand driven fad is bound to drive entrepreneurs and investors to encash and that is what has created an over supply of MBA seats in our country. Unfortunately, most of these entrepreneurs are not EDUCATORS and see it as a quick money making opportunity.
Also, when we look at IVY League MBA is an upskilling program that an individual joins after a minimum work exposure of 3 years in order to develop his managerial skills in t

well, craze of MBA among folks have seen a sudden decrease because of the quality education. there was a time when every second individual was seen as doing MBA. and moreover, apart from quality education, quality job plays a key role. when a MBA graduate is seen as doing a job which does not go with his/her worth, it becomes a demotivation for others who wishes to do it.

I agree the world economy is not growing at a pace to provide jobs to increasing population not only MBA in particular. We should note that doing MBA is not a criteria for a job; surveys and report quote that only 21% of MBA grads of India are employable. This was 25% in 2007 and 21% in 2012, thus a bigger concern is the decreasing minimum quality standards of our graduates which is the real bottle neck for employment. In-fact scenario is just reverse and companies are struggling from sheer lack of talented people. Below I have mentioned links that elaborate on the same issue.
Thank you Anikeet for asking my view on this topic hope you

Surely a cautious and good budget without any political gimmick or election stunts from the government. Lowering the government spending may help to reduce the deficit. Defense budget going higher which is indication of greater kick backs to be received by the people in power and politics. Countries like India and Pakistan should reduce their defense budget by half and spend the amount to benefit BPL population in respective countries rather than keeping the geo-political issues alive for the sake of diverting public attention. It is wrong to say that new jobs are not created in last few years but when is not being created are employab

Well a very nice discussion initiated Suraj.
I think the craze has already started to decrease as the number of MBA graduates in the country is far more than the management jobs being offered.
