Congratulations. You should definitely go for it. One of the best branches in NIT-K according to the placements.

It'll be nice when you experience it first-hand instead of me giving you a heads up. But here's a trailer. Smart peers, brilliant outstanding seniors (whose presence will question your reason of existence, amazing placements and great pay packages). On the other side, you have a lot of projects (which mostly people will rip from git) and assignment submissions. When your peers from other department will be chilling in their final year you guys will be busy attending classes and completing credits. Plus CS students can't take a semester off for a 6 month internship unlike other branches. The amount of competition you guys have to face is insane. Plus some professors giving surprise tests just to make sure you guys attend. Top shot coders in your own class who will code for 10-12 hours a day is something you'll have to come in terms with. Some will get placed at Uber, Google etc. with exorbitant pay packages and many people end up publishing papers in really good conferences. Good luck my friend. Make sure you also enjoy your college life. It's the best time in your life.
