B.Sc Engineering is now abbreviated as B.E/B.Tech is best. Because most of the people are doing B.E/B.Tech after doing the Diploma engineering courses for their career progression. Graduate engineers have big advantages over Diploma engineers in terms of employment opportunities like PSUs through GA

After doing Diploma engineering (3 years course), You will again go for B.E. /B.Tech course (3 years lateral admission course). Means you are going to waste another valuable two years. So its better to do B.E/B.Tech courses (4 years duration) instead of doing Diploma engineering courses.
