For how many papers can one student apply in GATE 2024?

Students applying for GATE 2024 can opt for two subject papers from the prescribed set of combinations. Earlier, the candidates could apply to appear in only one subject. As a candidate is allowed to appear in only two papers (only approved set) of the 29 papers for which the GATE 2024 will be conducted, they have to carefully make a choice of the papers they wish to write. A candidate is expected to appear in the papers appropriate to the discipline of his or her qualifying degree. However, he or she is free to choose any paper according to his or her admission plan, keeping in mind the GATE eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he or she wishes to seek admission. For more details regarding the admission criteria at any particular institute, the candidate is advised to refer to the websites of that institute. Those candidates opting for two paper combinations for GATE 2024 have a primary choice of paper as their default choice. The second choice of paper has to be chosen from the allowed combinations.
