For how many papers can one student apply in GATE 2025?

<p>Candidates can apply for either one or maximum two papers only. They must choose the papers from the set of two-paper combinations listed in the GATE information brochure or GATE official website. The choice of appropriate paper is solely based on the candidate. Earlier, the candidates could apply to appear in only one subject.</p><p>&nbsp;Now while filling GATE form, candidates can apply for two subject papers from the prescribed set of combinations out of the 30 papers. Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or who have completed any government approved degree program in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2025.</p>

A candidate is expected to appear in the papers appropriate to the discipline of his or her qualifying degree. However, he or she is free to choose any paper according to his or her admission plan, keeping in mind the GATE eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he or she wishes to seek admission. For more details regarding the admission criteria at any particular institute, the candidate is advised to refer to the websites of that institute. Those candidates opting for two paper combinations for GATE 2025 have a primary choice of paper as their default choice. The second choice of paper has to be chosen from the allowed combinations.
