    The ideal time to start giving the CAT mock test series depends on one's preparation level. It is important to first complete the CAT syallbus and get a familiarity with the exam pattern. Many experts suggest that one should start taking the CAT mock test series atleast 3 months prior to the exam. Generally, every year, the Common Admission Test (CAT) is held in November.     Ideally, candidates should start solving mock tests after completing the CAT syllabus. CAT exam is held in the last week of November and aspirants usually start exam preparation by March. Even if they start later than March, the syllabus is completed by August end. So, September is the ideal month to start solving CAT mock tests as it gives them over three months to attempt, analyse and assess their preparation level. For candidates pursuing MBA, the eligibility criteria includes merit and entrance based selection. Whereas, for BBA, candidates must qualify Class 12 with a minimum aggregate. Coaching interest such as TIME, IMS, Career Launcher, etc., usually have mock tests and sample papers for students. Educational YouTube channels  offer thought forums regarding past patterns. CAT is one of the accepting exams required for admission to PGDM programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants with a valid score in any other accepted entrance exams such as MAT, XAT or CMAT can also get admission in PGDM. Selected aspirants also have to pass the case-based group discussion and a personal interview round for final admission.
