I have recently joined an MBA course. How should I decide on my specialization? Between Marketing, Finance, HR and International Business which has better prospects?

A specialization should always be based upon ur interest, skills, experience.SO, in whichever field u find a mixture of all these factors go ahead with the same.

Also now a days general management is something people are into. Rather then any specialization people get a general mangement degree. After all a manager has to deal with all aspects. It is nothing like if you are a marketing person you don't deal with finance at all. Even in marketing fianance plays major role in deciding cost of product and other such factors. So you can also go for general management.

In First semester you will taste all the subjects. So u will get a fair idea of each stream. After that you can go with what you feel comfortable and which is sumthning of your intrest also. Beside this you can discuss among your peers and friends and also take advice of people who are doing their specialization.

HiDont just try to reach to a specialization just by market forces. You will be studying all subjects in your 1st year, so concentrate on all of them and then decide upon your area.Other aspect is what your personality is? - If you are a kind of dynamic & aggresive person then sales, marketing, finance may go with you. - If you are a kind of static person then HR may be one for you wherein you will be handling most of the manpower tasks associated with a company. So initially study all and finally decide upon any option that suits you, because option which matches your skill and personality will help your growth.

For instance, sales and marketing salaries start lower on an average than finance salaries. However, most managers at top levels in almost any company are marketing professionals (except for hard core finance compa
