Pc is good but Mac is better! Go for Mac, its the best. I'm picking up the Macbook pro for myself very soon. I checked the Apple toll free number 18004254646 and found out that they giving some good offers for college students in India. Worth trying this link http://www.apple.com/in/students/

pc is better for animation student,you purchase a heavy cnfiguration pc for animation. -

LAptop is good option as you can carry it with you.Also now a days laptop with good configurations are available so thats not the problem either. -

Safer would be a PC since Animation requires hours and hours of editing and modifying.
But if you take a high end Laptop, you'd have trouble concentrating though you can work happily. Laptops tend to get heated up faster and you MIGHT face problems. So, safer and better PC.
Opt for an Assembled PC and do some research before you plunge in to purchase it -
animation needs powerful graphics. I vote for a PC rather than a laptop. But it depends on the configuration you require for running your animation software. if it is available on laptop also, then go for it. laptops are easier to carry anywhere.
