i wanted to know about the courses i can choose to be an astronaut?

You can choose to be a Pilot with Air Force through NDA and then be among the best pilots to be made as a test pilot followed by getting a chance to be an astronaut if you are found to be the best among the best. Wish you all the best IGIA

Hi, to become an astronaut you need to apply to NASA after your graduation. NASA selects astronauts from a diverse pool of applicants with a wide variety of backgrounds. From the thousands of applications received, only a few are chosen for the intensive Astronaut Candidate training program. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration announce the opportunity to apply for the position of Astronaut Candidate to support the International Space Station Program. Selections are made on an as needed basis and the next selection cycle has not been determined. NASA announces candidates every two years, selecting about a hundred men and women out of thousands of applicants. Those who opt for this field, should pass their plus two examination under the science stream, specially in physics and math&#039;s. For pursuing a career in theoretical or observational astronomy one may go through the science stream after plus two. Since universities offering undergraduate programme in Astronomy are rarely found, one can join for a major/ honours in Physics with Mathematics as a subsidiary subject. Thereafter, take a master&#039;s degree in Physics or Astronomy. After the successful completion of MSc, one can do specialization in astronomy leading to Ph. Hi Rachitha, To become a successful Astronaut, you will need a baggage of academic and practical excellence. NASA is known as the best organization to release your dreams of becoming an astronaut. In India, ISRO is the lead organization of a similar kind. Students who plan to pursue this career can directly apply to NASA after the completion of their Graduation course. The general academic requirement for this is to have pass their +2 level with the science stream, physics and maths as compulsory subjects and a graduate degree from an accredited institution. In India getting a specialized course in the field of Astronomy is rare hence you may opt for graduation in Physics after which followed by Masters in Physics/ Astronomy as the specialization. This would lead you to being eligible for the research field where in you may take up Ph.D. To get in the research field you may apply to ISRO directly with your profile. Also you can apply to these organizations through the way of becoming a pilot. Other than the academic record and excellence you would also require a good and a healthy body and brain varying according to the designations like Commander and Pilot Astronaut, Mission Specialists, Payload Specialists etc. IGIA does not offers courses related to Astronomy or related fields instead it offers courses related to Air Ticketing &amp; Travel Management, Basic Cabin Crew Training etc. But you can take up its CPL Conversion course.
