What is the difference between animation and visual effects?
What is the difference between animation (CGI) and Visual Effects (VFX). I see a number of institutes offering courses in both. Which one should i pick, and which one has a wider scope in the future?

CGI - COMPUTER GENERATED IMAGERY ( it may be any thing like static image, animated, using software for 3dmodeling , texture i.e. image creating software , 3d or 2d animation etc). here u need much artistic & basic study of art
VFX- (VISUAL EFFECTS ) (also computer generated effects like, fire, explosion, or use of CGI , software like adobe after effect is used.) basic study of art not necessary. -
Hello Varun,
Animation is like cartoons: moving pictures, whether they be drawn or computer-animated. Visual/special effects are things they put in movies to make things seem more intense/real than they are, for example, staging an explosion. Special effects are not a part of animation since you can do anything you want with animation (since it's not real). Special effects have to do with live-action movies and are designed to make the movie seem more real.

in animation you will b tought things like how to make animation movie ie modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging etc. and in vfx it is like visual effects,so you will b tought that only. both of them have wide scope in the future. select one accordng to your interests.
